Brain and practice

Meditation and neuroscience: a plain-English guide

Meditation can be understood spiritually, practically and scientifically without making exaggerated claims.

Attention is trainable

From a neuroscience-aware perspective, meditation can be understood as attention training. You choose an anchor, notice distraction and return. The return matters. It is not proof that meditation is failing; it is the moment the practice is happening.

The body and stress response

Stress is not only a thought pattern. It is also physical: breath, muscle tension, posture, alertness and fatigue. Meditation often begins with the body because the body gives attention something immediate and steady.

Careful science wording

Meditation may support relaxation, focus and self-awareness for many people. It is not presented here as a cure, a medical treatment by itself, or a replacement for professional care.
